In-Vehicle Weather Application

In-vehicle Weather Application

WeatherMaster is an application optimised for in-vehicle use on Samsung tablets to display weather information and forecasts in a format designed specifically for commercial road users providing increased safety and route optimization. When coupled with on vehicle weather sensor technology WeatherMaster will display and geo-reference road surface temperatures and other conditions including dewpoint that can indicate icing conditions requiring the application of CMA in winter, or water to stop flushing in summer.

The savings from optimum spreading, and auditing of spreading can result in significant cost and environmental savings.

Product Overview

WeatherMaster has been specifically designed for businesses that operate vehicle fleets that would benefit from rigorous localised weather observations and forecasts. It uses our TrueWeather framework to blend observations from mobile weather stations installed on the vehicle, including sensors able to measure road temperature and icing in real time, plus fixed location weather stations (our own or third party) with our localised forecasts. This information is displayed on an Android tablet app in the vehicle specifically designed for transport operators.

When connected to mobile road weather sensors the data is also transmitted to the TrueWeather platform for analysis and integration with other enterprise systems such as GIS.

On-vehicle weather observation
& data collection

The in vehicle mobile weather stations are compact, cost effective and state of the art. We measure road surface temperature, barometric pressure, light intensity and OAT along with derived values, including dewpoint. All data and driver alerts are displayed in cab, and simultaneously fed to our TrueWeather platform where they can be accessed for overlay onto GIS or used to determine optimum CMA or surface response. The creation of jobs covering segments of road meeting treatment conditions provides a definitive record of the required response, and saves thousands of dollars in CMA and environmental damage.

Accesses real time data from
fixed weather stations

We use MetTrigger, or customer owned or data from third party weather stations designed specifically for scientific/commercial grade weather data collection. Our own stations measure temperature, humidity, pressure, wind speed and direction, precipitation type and rate and are fitted with cellular data, that can be received by the vehicle in real time.

Highly localised Weather Forecasting

We operate our own highly localised forecast model. This sources its initial inputs from the major international models but is then adjusted to include factors that affect local weather, for example local geography and local meteorological expertise. Our model provides forecasts for areas as small as 1km square, providing much more detailed and immediate forecasts.

Comprehensive Weather Data

MetTrigger’s specialsed weather models provide some of the best
localised weather forecasts and assumptions available.
